Workshops

MBOSE in collaboration with the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, Kolkata, jointly conducted workshops at the MBOSE offices in Shillong and Tura recently to enlighten teachers and heads of institutions on the wide prospects of Financial Literacy and Financial Market Management Courses.

Pre-puja events

Pre-puja cultural competition organized by Rilbong Durga Puja Committee, 2014, will be held from September 13 onward in recitation (Bengali, Hindi, English) solo singing (devotional, Rabindra Sangeet, folk), group dance (folk, modern). Entry forms are available at Rilbong Puja Mandap from 11 am to 2 pm. Last date of submission of form is Sept 12. Details can be collected on No. 9436303131.

CPC meet

Central Puja Committee, Meghalaya, held its triennial general body meeting recently, hosted by Oakland- Bivar Road Durga Puja Committee. The meeting elected a new executive committee for 2014-2017 headed by Naba Bhattacharjee as president, Ramsevak Singh as working president, J.L. Das as general secretary, besides others. A women’s wing was also set up. The ‘Get Together of Harmony’ will be hosted on Sept 27 by Jail Road Durga Puja Committee which is celebrating its centenary year.

Competition

Blossom Fun Club is organising an art and craft greeting cards competition, traditional fancy dress and dance performances on Sept 6 at Sanathan Dharamshala, Laitumkhrah.

Meeting

The District Administration of South West Khasi Hills under the Chairmanship of DC, R. Lyngdoh, convened a meeting recently to discuss steps for preventing vector borne diseases with special reference to Japanese Encephalitis and to create awareness all over the district.

Closing function

The closing function of the Urban Basic Training of Home Guards will be held on September 5 at 11.30 am at Civil Defence and Home Guards Parade Ground, Mawdiangdang.

Workshop

The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association will organize a one-day workshop on the topic ‘Mathematics in everyday life’ on Sept 6 at 10.30 am at Laban Bengalee Boy’s H.S. School.
