Assault cases

On September 5 around 3 pm, one Dulu Karki assaulted Dilu Das (45) at Barapathar, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

On September 5 around 9 pm, unknown miscreants assaulted Priyanka Sunar near Jail Road Petrol Pump, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

Accident case

On September 4 around 8.30 pm, one truck (AS-01-EC-7715) collided with another truck (ML-04-7188) driven by Dapoihunlang Phawa at Phramer NH-44 (WJH) after which both the trucks fell into a gorge. As a result, the drivers and helpers of both the trucks sustained injuries and were shifted to PHC Ialong where one of the injured victims, Fredy Rymbai, died.

On September 3 at around 7.20 pm, one Police vehicle (Gypsy ML-02-2871) driven by S. Myrthong of Ri Bhoi DEF, knocked down SI A.K. Nongkynrih at Down Gate, Nongpoh (RB). Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

Minor’s body recovered

On September 3 around 1 pm, the body of one minor boy Skhembor Kharwaniang (10) was recovered at Jakrem (SWKH). The deceased is reported to have died due to drowning in a stream at Phudmawlein (SWKH).

Body found hanging

On September 4 at around 9 am, the body of one Kyntiewlang L. Nonglait was found hanging from a tree in a jungle at Laitmawlum village (WKH).

Detonators seized

On September 3 at around 9 pm, Police detected and seized 40 electric detonators attached to six feet long safety fuse wire from the possession of one Md. Sausha Sheikh (35) at Maikhuli Labour Camp (RB). Accused person has been arrested.

Vehicle theft

On September 2 night, unknown miscreants stole one Maruti car (ML-09-9492) belonging to one Deansylvia from the premises of Civil Hospital, Baghmara (SGH).

Attempt to murder

A woman identified as Lipika Paul lodged a complaint at Tura Women PS that on September 1 at around 11 am, one Jayanta Dey went to her house at Fancy Valley, Tura (WGH), and allegedly attempted to murder her by strangulating her with a wire. When the complainant raised an alarm, the accused person snatched her necklace valued around Rs. 35,000 and fled away.

SMS threat

A woman identified as Lopchibel Ch Marak lodged a complaint at Bajengdoba PS that on August 31, she received an SMS, in which her husband Tengrim K. Sangma and a woman Evani Nochirek Ch Marak allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.

Fraud

One Tishal Lyngdoh lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that on August 28, at around 6 am, unidentified persons claiming themselves to be officials from Sales Tax Department went to his shop at Khlieh Iewduh, Shillong and asked for Rs. 5,000. They took the cash without issuing the money receipt.

Attempt to rape

A woman lodged a complaint at Tura Women PS that on August 25, her husband, Balseng N Sangma, allegedly attempted to rape her daughter in their residence at Lower Kamipara under Tura PS (WGH).

On September 2 at around 4 am, one Hoping Muktieh went to the residence of one twenty-four-year-old married woman at Sohja-Ir village (RB) and offered her Rs. 500 with an intention to rape her but she managed to run away.

Stepdaughter raped

On the night of July 26 one Babul Dutta allegedly raped his twelve-year-old stepdaughter at Pyndengumiong, Mairang, West Khasi Hills.

Body recovered

On September at 3 around 2 pm, body of Jram Khongshei was recovered from a jungle at Nongbah Mawshuit village under Sohra PS (EKH). The deceased was reportedly missing from his residence since Aug. 11, 2014.

NGT ban violation

On September 3 at around 5 am, two trucks (AS-01-CC-8253 & AS-01-FC-1326) driven by Rilangki Shylla and Kamal Chyrmang respectively, were found transporting coal in violation of NGT order at Umtyra (EJH).

Arrest

On September 2 at around 11.30 pm, unidentified miscreants looted Rs. 4,500 and a mobile phone from a truck (AS-01-CC-2709) driven by Jakir Hussain (24) at Ratacherra (EJH). However, on being raised an alarm, the other truck drivers chased the miscreants and managed to apprehend one of them identified as one Anil Rai (18). He was handed over to BSF at Sonapur (EJH) and later, Police took him into custody and arrested accordingly.

Attack on petrol pump

On September 1 night, unknown miscreants entered the premises of M/s Janusa Petrol Pump at Williamnagar (EGH) and vandalized two servicing machines. As a result, both the machines were partially damaged.

Church burglary

Balarius Rynniaw (28) lodged a complaint at Nongstoin PS that on August 31 night, unknown miscreants entered a Catholic Church at Nongprut village (WKH) and stole sacred articles including cash from the church.

ATM fraud

Damian Marwein lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on August 20, 2014 he found that his ATM Card was missing from his wallet at Bara Bazar, Shillong. Later, he found that Rs.30,000 was withdrawn from his account.

Harassment

On September 4 at around 4 pm, while Amiruddin Talukdar (29) was travelling from Mawsynram to Shillong in a Tata Sumo, unidentified miscreants stopped the vehicle at 101 Area, Upper Shillong, and pulled him out of the vehicle and assaulted him.
