Awareness on career guidance

SHILLONG: With an aim to educate the youth on various activities in the field of education, employment opportunities, animal farming and agricultural activities, Ka Kynshithem Christian Youth Society (KCYC) recently organised an awareness programme on career guidance and skill development at Kynshi Village which was attended by hundreds of youths.

I. Lyngdoh Mawnai, Vice Principal, Mairang Science College, who acted as the resource person, enlightened the youths on how to choose their line of studies after passing Matriculation and Class 12.

Teibor Pathaw of North East Security Academy spoke about the various job opportunities in the private sector without depending on government jobs.

Dr. Rimiki Lamare, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officer, Mawthadraishan Block, spoke on the various activities of cattle farming and its contribution to rural economy was well as job opportunities for the youth.

K.D. Kharkongor, District Training Officer, Farmers’ Training Centre, East Khasi Hills, provided training on agricultural farming and urged the youth and the general public to take up agriculture in a big way.

KCYS president P. Sohkhlet, who chaired the meeting, informed that the programme was sponsored under the Chief Minister Youth Development Fund.
