Ministry set to include managers: IOA

ew Delhi: Faced with severe criticism from various quarters on the composition of Indian contingent for the Asian Games, the government is set to make a U-turn and name managers in 23 disciplines out of 28 the country will compete in the multi-sporting event. Indian Olympic Association Secretary General Rajeev Mehta told PTI that the sports secretary has told him that the ministry will re-consider its decision.”I had spoken to the sports secretary about the difficulties the Indian contingent may face without managers in the 23 disciplines and he has given me a positive response,” Mehta said. Jajodia first Boxing India chief

Mumbai: Boxing India (BI) announced on Thursday the formation its elected federation after an International Boxing Association (AIBA) suspension of the federation for 21 months. Thirty-three state associations and one sports board elected Sandeep Jajodia as president, Jay Kowli as secretary general and Hemant Kumar Kalita as treasurer along with 10 vice-presidents and seven Executive Council members.”I am deeply humbled by the faith AIBA president Dr. C.K. Wu and BI members have placed in me. I am eager to restore the action in boxing,” Jajodia said. (IANS)

 

SPL resumes on Sept 13

SHILLONG: The Imperial Blue Shillong Premiere League 2014 will resume again from September 13 at the J N S Complex. On September 13, Malki SC will take on MLP Football Team. All the matches will be played at 3.30 P.M. every day.

 

8-A-Side soccer meet

SHILLONG: The Nongkseh Sports Social and Cultural Club will organize the 3rd 8-A-Side MLA Trophy Knockout football tournament 2014 at the Nongkseh Football Ground from 1st October 2014. Winners will get- Rs. 30,000/-, Runners up- Rs. 10,000/-. Entry fee- Rs. 2500/- per team. Individual prizes also will be given. Last date for submission of forms is September 24. Carrom body meet

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Carrom Association will hold its ‘annual general meeting’ on September 27 at 11am sharp at the Office of the Association at Indoor hall (NEHRU Complex-Polo). The main agenda of this meeting is to elect new office bearers of the Association.The Executive Committee in press note has urged all the players of the state well as the representatives from all districts and affiliated Carrom Clubs to attend the meeting as to enable them to elect the new EC of their choice.
