IED recovered from bus in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: An improvise explosive device (IED) weighing about one kilogram was recovered from a bus by a team of policemen as soon as it entered Guwahati city after crossing Saraighat Bridge over Brahmaputra River Friday afternoon.
Police informed that the IED was fitted with five detonators and a very powerful one.
Police picked up one person for interrogation after recovering the IED from the bus (AS12 AC 1096) acting on a tip-off.  The passenger laded bus was coming to Guwahati from north Assam town of Tezpur.
Vigil on all the entry and exit points in Guwahati city as well as on strategic and populous locations has been mounted following recent threat issued by Islamic terror group, Al-Qaeda which threatened to spread its tentacles to Assam along with some other parts of the country.
