Kohima: Nagaland Minister for Roads and Bridges Kuzholuzo Nienu has apologised to the media for a civil defamation suit filed against four local dailies and said he would consult his legal adviser for corrective measures.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Tenyimia Post Graduate Students’ Union (TPGSU)’s 12th Annual Meet at Ura Academy, Kohima on Monday, Nienu denied any intention of filing cases against any newspaper firms.

He said he always maintained a very good rapport with the mediapersons and had no intention to hurt the feeling of the press. Nienu said he wanted to continue the good relationship.

‘If I am not mistaken, interpretation of the legal notice served to two contractors must have been misinterpreted’, he said.

Nienu said though Article 19 (A) of the Indian Constitution guaranteed the Freedom of Speech and expression, he opined that the freedom should be based on truth. (UNI)
