Misappropriation of KHADC fund
SHILLONG: The KHADC Executive Committee has directed the committee probing the alleged anomalies in the expenditures incurred in the Khasi Heritage Village project at Mawphlang to submit its report by next week.
The KHADC Deputy CEM Teinwell Dkhar informed this here on Tuesday.
He said that the EC will examine the report once it is submitted.
Earlier, KHADC CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said that the EC had constituted an inquiry committee since they had ‘some doubts’ over the way funds were utilized in the project.
Former KHADC CEM Pynshngaiñ N Syiem had earlier denied that allegations of misappropriation of funds in the Khasi Heritage Village project.
While reacting to a news report in a vernacular daily, Syiem had denied that an amount of Rs. 6.38 crore had been earmarked for the project as reported. “I would like to clarify that only an amount of Rs. 5.98 crore was earmarked for the project by the 13th Finance Commission,” Syiem, who is also KHUDA Chairman, had said.
Children’s Park at Lumsohpetbyneng
Meanwhile, Deputy CEM said that the EC has decided to set up a children’s part at Lum Sohpetbneng, popularly known as “umbilical heavenly peak” or “Navel of the earth”, situated near the Umiam Lake.
“We have decided to propose the project under the 13th Finance Commission,” he said.
Dkhar said that the Council will soon prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the children park.
