SHILLONG: The CSWO has demanded immediate reinstatement of two Junior Engineers from Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block, who were suspended for no fault of theirs, just because they did not comply with the instructions of the BDO, Shella-Bholaganj Block, to sign on the Measurement Book (MB) which was not prepared by them.

CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing on Thursday said that there was nothing wrong in Government servants going to the media, and added that it was not a crime.

“When the aggrieved government servants are bringing out the irregularities in the departments in public domain which is harmful to the State exchequer, the whistleblowers are hounded by the seniors or transferred out,” she said.

The CSWO urged Government law enforcers to speed up cases against white-collared officers and politicians too, as the State investigative machinery (CID and the police) seem to be targeting the lower level officers while sparing the higher ups with regards to big scams. The police and the CID seem to be avoiding seriously investigating the Education scam, the Mawpalai case, the ICDS case, the Umsawli land document forgery case, among others, she said.

Corruption in all forms has to be tackled in earnest and seriously and anyone making intentional delays should be booked along with the perpetrators for connivance, Kharshiing added.
