New Delhi: Two factions of Garo Hills-based A’chik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) will sign a memorandum of settlement (MoS) with the Centre here on Wednesday, 10 years after the hostilities were suspended through an agreement.

Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will arrive here on Wednesday while the Home Minister Roshni Warjri has already been in the national capital. The DGP, additional Chief Secretary, Commissioner and Secretary Home and other top officials have also arrived, Union Home Ministry sources said.

The Joint Secretary, Home Affairs Sambhu Singh will sign the pact in presence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and top officials at North Block.

Meanwhile, in an interesting development six leaders of the ANVC were airlifted from the marooned Garo Hill districts to the national capital on Tuesday for the signing of the tripartite peace agreement.

The militant leaders, who were stranded at a forest near Rari near Bajengdoba were airlifted in a Home Ministry chopper and were later flown by a plane from Guwahati to New Delhi.
