SHILLONG: The KHADC will write to the State Government to construct a market place at Sweeper Lane or Harijan Colony in Them Iew Mawlong.
The market place will be proposed to ease the congestion at Iewduh where local vendors are seen carrying out businesses on the roadside creating inconvenience for the public. “We will propose to the State Government to construct a market for the local vendors and second hand cloth sellers,” KHADC CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit told reporters following his inspection of the area along with the Syiem of Mylliem, Latho Manik Syiem here on Friday.
He also informed that a joint petition by the Council and the Hima Mylliem would soon be submitted to the State government demanding immediate relocation of those residing in Sweeper Lane. “Most of the people are living illegally in the area.
