Smugglers held

SHILLONG: Bangladeshi smugglers, taking advantage of the inundated border areas in Garo Hills, have been attempting to smuggle wooden logs through the overflowing river.

Recently, BSF personnel seized 359.982 Cft wooden logs from such smugglers.

BSF troops nabbed four Indian and one Bangladeshi smuggler and seized 1619 bottles of liquor, 18 cattle heads, 145 bottles of Phensedyl and other contraband items worth over Rs.14 lakh while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.

They have been forwarded for legal action.
