New Delhi: Hockey India (HI) Thursday announced cash awards for its men’s and women’s teams which won gold and bronze, respectively, at the Asian Games in Incheon.
HI secretary general Narinder Batra said that each member of the men’s team, which ended 16 years of Asiad gold drought by beating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final, will be rewarded with Rs.2.5 lakh.
Batra also announced the same amount of reward for head coach Terry Walsh and high performance director Roelant Oltmans while Rs.1 lakh will be given to each member of the support staff.
Meanwhile, each member of the women’s team, which won the bronze Wednesday, will get Rs.1 lakh while each member of the support staff will get richer by Rs.50,000. (IANS)
