Eye screening

The North East Diabetic Society and Conference in Collaboration with Bansara Eye Care Centre will organise a Free Diabetic Retinopathy Screening along with a Comprehensive Eye Screening Camp at U Soso Tham Auditorium on October 11 from 8am till 3pm.

Food fest

Khasi-Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly (Women’s Fellowship) will organize a food fest cum sale of works in aid of its vocational training centre at Nongmynsong on Oct 9 at 10:30am at Mawkhar Christian H.S. School.

Verification

Bogy’s Sports and Cultural Club, Harijan Cultural and Welfare Association, has informed that new registration of all the tenants began on Oct 7 and will continue till Oct 13 with a view to verify the tenants who are residing legally in the locality.

Shutdown

The Executive Engineer, Transmission and Transformation Division, MeECL, Tura, has informed that the 132 KV Nongalbibra-Tura transmission line will be put under shutdown on Oct 11 from 11am to 2pm.

Campaign

Joining the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Campaign) on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, the SOS children, SOS mothers and staff of SOS children’s villages participated in the drive for clean India across 31 villages in 22 states. Total of 31,500 beneficiaries from Family Strengthening Programme and Family Based care programme came together. P.S. Marwein, CO of Police Station Umiam, Barapani, also joined the initiative of SOS Children’s villages of India at Shillong.

General meet

St. Anthony’s School Past Pupil’s Association will be holding its second annual general meeting at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah on October 11 from 10:30am onwards. Registration for membership can be done in the School Office during school hours or on the day of the general meeting.

Unclaimed body

The Cantonment Police Beat House has informed that at around 2pm on Oct 6, a body was found lying on the footpath at Mawlonghat, Bara Bazar. Police have asked the relatives to claim the body which is lying at Civil Hospital Morgue.

Boy missing

One Clenyir Ch Marak (14) went missing on Monday after he came with his friend James Sangma (15) from Williamnagar to Shillong. Later, both were found by police at Lumdiengjri. However, K.G. Momin, resident of Police Reserve, filed an FIR that he had brought the boy to his home but the boy fled away and was still missing.
