SHILLONG: A photography exhibition cum competition was inaugurated at the Don Bosco Technical School, here on Tuesday.
The exhibition, open for all, is based on the theme ‘Shillong’. This event is an attempt to provide an avenue to photography enthusiasts and to promote good photography.
The exhibition attracted a total of 52 participants from various age groups, comprising of photographs from outsiders and students of the institution itself.
The chief guest for the event was Rev. Father D. John Jaykumar, former HOD, Mass Media Department of St. Anthony’s College.
Another noted personality who graced the event was famous singer and musician Lou Majaw. Fr. B. John congratulated the students on putting up the great work and further encouraged them to “capture the uniqueness of the land”.
The event was complete with a welcome dance and singing performance by the students and also enlightening speeches from the guests and Fr. James, Principal of Don Bosco Technical School.
The 150 photographs put up for the competition drew admiration from the visitors and students alike.
Cash prizes of Rs.10, 000, Rs.7,000 and Rs.5,000 were given out to the three best competitors – Mudong Sira, Nobojit Dey and Josiah Lyngwa, respectively.
The management of the Don Bosco Technical School has also made further plans of introducing short term courses in photography for a period of four weeks, registration for which has already begun.
The exhibition will remain open for visitors till Oct 9.
