Jagadhri (Har): Propounding a new theory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday sought a majority for BJP in Haryana Assembly elections so that the same party can rule both at the Centre and the state in the interest of development.
“The Centre and the state can be close to each other (an apparent reference to the geographical proximity of Delhi and Haryana), but if the government at the Centre and the state are on the same wavelength (apparently run by the same party) the results will be different,” he said addressing a public meeting here on his third leg of campaigning for the October 15 polls.
“Mujhe pass pass wali sarkar nahin, sath sath wali sarkar chahiye (I need governments that concur with each other),” he said, making an obvious reference to the need for governments of the same party at the Centre as well as in the state. “I am working on the idea of ‘Team India’ where the Centre and the state will jointly take the country further on the development path. We are not enemy of the states, but we want to strengthen them so that the entire country gets strengthened,” he said.
Referring to governments other than those run by BJP in states, he said few are concurring (saath saath) in nature.
However, Modi said if a government that is elected in Haryana does not permit him to enter here, how will it be possible (to help Haryana in development). He urged the electorate to choose a government in the state so that he is able to serve them.
“Elect a government of absolute majority in Haryana,” he told the gathering.
Laying emphasis on Centre-state ties, he said, “Till now, 1 plus 1 was two as the state stood next to the Centre. I want to change this mathematics so that 1 plus 1 becomes 11. I want to create that strength. This will help India become 11 times powerful and it would not take any time to change the fortunes of the country”. He said that he was eager to help Haryana as it is close to Delhi.
Continuing with his series of rallies in this state, Modi said he wants to see the transformation from “Scam Haryana to Skill Haryana” as he targeted the ruling Congress and INLD. “I know that you are sad that Haryana is know as a state of scams. There are scams and then scams within scams. Our opponents are all involved in scams. Do you want a Scam Haryana? I want to create a Skill Haryana. You have to decide if you want a Scam Haryana or a Skill Haryana,” he said addressing a rally in Mahendragarh.
Referring to three colours in the national flag and blue one in the ‘chakra’ in it, he underlined the need for “four-colour” revolution involving energy (saffron), crops (green), milk (white) and fishing sector (blue) to help India move ahead.
Focussing on Haryana which has 90 Assembly seats, he said, “This election is not about who will win or which party will form the government. This election is for taking the decision of Haryana’s fate.
“I urge the voters that while voting, you should come above caste, religion, creed and sect to elect a BJP government with full majority in the state.” (PTI)
Asking people to elect a BJP government that could lead the state on the path of speedy development, Modi said that in the last 25 years Haryana has not developed due to dynastic politics and questioned if the past elections or governments were run democratically.
“If dynastic politics continues, would your fortunes change? If Haryana has to live with dignity, we need it to be freed from dynastic politics. For last 25 years, four-five families have controlled Haryana and the common man’s life has become difficult. He alleged that “They have done nothing except filling their family coffers.” “You have to decide whether you want a Haryana free from corruption. Do you want to see Haryana freed from bahubalis (musclemen) and the corrupt? Then you will have to choose a new path. The only way left now is to elect a BJP government with full majority,” he said.
He said Haryana has so far been run as a “fiefdom” and targeted the former Chief Minister and INLD chief O P Chautala, without naming him, as also Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Attacking Hooda, he said, he and his family has ruled over the state for the last 10 years but the law and order situation was such that women did not feel safe and the plight of Dalit women was even worse. PTI PR TDS SAP SKC NAB DV 10081748
