JVM(P)’s Central Gen Secy resigns

Ranchi: In yet another jolt to former Jharkhand Chief MInister Babulal Marandi led Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (Prajatantrik), a senior office bearer of the party, on Wednesday resigned from the party. Party’s Central General Secretary Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said he had resigned from his post and from the party and had intimated party high command in this regard. ‘The party has lost internal democracy following which I prefer to part my ways from the organisation’, Mr Prasad said adding that in next two to three days he would hold a meeting with his supporters to decide further course of action. Meanwhile, commenting on the resignation of Mr Prasad, party’s senior leader Pradeep Yadav said the party would not be hit by the departure of anyone and would fight for the cause of people. Mr Yadav said many time personal ambitions also force people to take such steps. (UNI)

14 injured in group clash in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar: Fourteen people were injured when a clash broke out between two groups over a land dispute at Budhana town here, police said today. A clash broke out between one Mohsin and Shakil of the same village over a land dispute yesterday. The two groups used sharp weapons and bricks to hurt each other, they said. While two of them received minor injuries, rest twelve were rushed to hospital and their condition was stated to be stable. (PTI)

Man shoots dead three of his colleagues

Kancheepuram (TN): A CISF head constable today allegedly shot dead three of his colleagues attached to the Kalpakkam Nuclear complex here and injured two others in their camp. Head Constable Vijay Prathap Singh allegedly opened fire from a 9mm carbine, killing Assistant Sub-Inspector Ganesan and head constables Subburaj and Mohansingh at the CISF barracks in Kalpakkam township, about 10 km away from the nuclear complex, according to police and plant officials. “Three CISF personnel have been killed. The incident happened around 5.30 AM. We are enquiring into how the incident happened,” C Vijaya Kumar, Kancheepuram Superintendent of Police, told PTI. Assistant Sub-Inspector Prathap Singh and head constable Govardhan Singh sustained major injuries and are being being treated at a hospital, police said. Vijay Prathap Singh has been arrested and is being questioned, police said. (PTI)

Rs 23 lakh goes missing from cash van

New Delhi: Around Rs 23 lakh went missing from a cash van in Central Delhi’s Paharganj area here this evening under mysterious circumstances. The incident took place around 6:15 PM when the cash van, which belonged to a private company, reached an ATM at Paharganj. “As a couple of its staff went inside to refill the ATM, the others, who were supposed to guard the van, also went around. When they returned, Rs 23 lakh were found to have been stolen from the van,” said a police official. The van had left its office with Rs 87 lakh cash earlier on Tuesday and had reached the Central Bank ATM after refilling a few ATM machines around Central Delhi, he said. The five staffers told police that when they returned to the van after depositing money at a Paharganj ATM, Rs 23 lakh that should have been in the van, was missing. “CCTV footages of all the cameras installed in the area are being examined. Two held over murdering in Odisha

Bhubaneswar:Two people have been arrested for murdering a man in Odisha’s Nuapada district after accusing him of practising witchcraft, police said Wednesday.Shyamghana Majhi and Giridhari Majhi were arrested for killing 75-year-old Khageswar Majhi in Chhatriapada village, about 560 km from Bhubaneswar, inspector in-charge of Komna police station M.K. Nayak told IANS.Although the killing took place Oct 3, the matter came to light after the son of the victim lodged a police complaint Tuesday, Nayak said. (ians)

Fake bomb creates panic in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A mobile phone, claimed to be a bomb and attached to the stomach of a person, created panic among people here, police said on Wednesday. Sanjeev Naul, 35, of Sector 7 here was heading towards his office in Sector 32 when four-five men travelling in Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Scorpio forced his Toyota Etios car to stop near the Rao Tula Ram Chowk on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway Wednesday afternoon. They then with scotch tape attached a mobile phone to his stomach, saying it was a bomb, and warned him that it will explode if he moved. (IANS)

Teacher found dead in car

New Delhi: A MCD school teacher was found dead Wednesday morning in his car in west Delhi, police said.

Raj Singh’s body was found at 6.30 a.m. in west Delhi’s Shahbad dairy area, police said. He was 45 year old and was working as a teacher in a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) primary school in west Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area. Police said his body was found in an Alto car and he was sitting on the driver’s seat.”The man was in an inebriated state and prima facie it looks like he suffered a heart attack triggered by excessive alcohol consumption,” a police officer said.(ians)
