NSCN(IM) cadres held with arms, cash in Nagaland

Kohima: Four persons, including three NSCN (IM) cadres, have been caught with cash, arms and ammunition from separate areas of Dimapur district in Nagaland, an Assam Rifles official said today. Jawans of the 37 Assam Rifles caught two NSCN(IM) cadres with arms as they were moving in a vehicle on Patkai bridge on National Highway-29 on Oct. 11.

A .22 rifle, a .22 revolver and assorted ammunition was recovered from them, Assam Rifles said. Also, jawans of the 29 Assam Rifles caught an extortionist with cash and documents in the Rail Bazaar Colony on the same day.

The day before that, on Oct. 10, the 29 Assam Rifles personnel caught an NSCN(IM) activist from Hongkong Market in Dimapur who was found to be in possession of alleged extortion money amounting to Rs 47,130. All four apprehended persons were handed over to police, the spokesman added. (PTI)
