Blood donation

The NSS unit of Shillong College will organise a blood donation camp in the College campus on Friday in collaboration with Regional Blood Bank Pasteur Institute, The Meghalaya AIDA Control Society and Alumni Association of Shillong College.

Festival

The Shillong Buddhist Association & Vihar Committee will celebrate kathin Cheevordana Dan Utsav on October 19 at Buddhist Temple, Polo Hills. The main function will be Chankadan (Ven Jinaratha Mahathera) followed by Bhikku song and prayer for world peace and reading of religious scriptures of all faith, besides speeches by distinguished monks.

DPDC meet

The District Planning & Development Council (DPDC), West Garo Hills, Tura held a meeting today at Circuit House, Tura to discuss and approve the Draft Annual Plan 2015-16. The meeting was chaired by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDC, Pravin Bakshi. Later the different departments submitted and presented the Draft Annual Plan 2015-16 for the district.

Foundation stone

The laying of foundation stone for Observation Home for boys and girls will be held on Oct 18 at Mawdiangdiang at 3 pm.

Annual meet

The annual general meeting of the Cherra Bosconian Union (CBU), an organisation of the Don Bosco Past Pupils of St. John Bosco Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Sohra, will be held on October 19 from 10 am onwards at St. John Bosco Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Sohra.

Procession

St John’s Catholic Church, Laban, will celebrate the annual Marian procession on October19 at 1:30 pm. All Catholic faithful have been invited to participate in the procession.

Contribution

MeECL Engineers’ Association has contributed Rs.1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Competition

Assam Club, Laban is holding a chorus competition on the songs Late (Dr.) Bhupen Hazarika on the club premises on October 19 from 1pm. Several groups have confirmed their participation in the competition.
