SHILLONG: A meeting of the Meghalaya State Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) was held in the CPI office here on Thursday to observe the Anti-Price Raise Day as par of the all India campaign launched by the party.
The meeting noted that a great expectation was roused during the last general election in the country and people voted for the BJP-led Government with a hope that life would become easier of the people.
However, not to speak of controlling the price rise, the policy of the Narendra Modi-led Government is adding to the soaring price of commodities in the last three months, the party noted, adding that the policy of the Union Government is only encouraging big businesses and adding to the woes of the common people.
There is no difference between the policy of the previous Congress-led Government and the present BJP-led Government, since hoarding is on the rise which will create additional economic burden for the people, the CPI alleged.
The party also slammed the Centre for encouraging FDI and neglecting the lot of the common people.
