SCPCP condemns minor’s rape in S West Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has condemned the rape committed of a three-and-half-year-old minor on October 13 in South West Khasi Hills District which was only brought to the Commission’s notice on Wednesday.
SCPCP Chairperson M. Kharkongor immediately visited the victim who has been admitted in a city hospital and has also communicated with the Superintendent of Police, South West Khasi Hills District, who has assured that all steps will be taken to nab the culprit of such a heinous offence.
Immediate compensation will be sought from the State Government, the SCPCR Chairperson said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
Meanwhile the DSWO and the DCPO, Nongstoin, have also joined together to extend all legal and financial help to the victim.
