Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister T. R. Zeliang on Saturday expressed serious concern on the 1000-hour bandh called by the Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) of Karbi Anglong of Assam, impact of which imposed only in Nagaland and Manipur.
Official sources on Saturday said that Zeliang in a letter to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, conveyed his deep concern on the proposed bandh by the JACAS stating that Nagaland and Manipur are the worst affected by frequent bandhs imposed by various organizations of Karbi Anglong district of Assam, where as people of Assam are not aware of the bandh and there is no impact in any other parts of Assam.
Zeliang pointed out in his letter to the central leader that such bandhs causes severe inconveniences to travelers and affects the supply of essential commodities causing artificial shortages and unrealistic price rise.
The Chief Minister, further, expressed apprehension that the proposed 1000-hour bandh call, the reason for which is not even remotely connected to Nagaland would practically stop supplies of all essential commodities including petroleum products to Nagaland and Manipur. (UNI)
