Wangala fest

The West Garo Hills district administration has informed that all government offices, magisterial courts, revenue and educational institutions will remain closed in the district on November 6 on account of the 100 Drums Wangala festival at Asanang.

Chhath puja

As part of the Chhath Puja celebration, the Chhath Puja Committee will organize a cleaning drive at 9.30 AM on Sunday from Umshyrpi Chhath Puja Ghat to Rilbong point. The Chhath puja will be begin on October 29 at 3 pm and culminate the next day at 6. 30 AM.

Past pupil’s association

St.Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Peachlands formed its Past Pupil Association- Margaretian Alumni Association- in its general body meeting. The office bearers of the Association include Bonnie M Nicol (president), Belinda Lyngdoh (vice president), Nicholas Chyrmang (secretary).

Cleaning drive

Close to 250 students of the Food Craft Institute, Tura on Saturday undertook a cleaning drive at Chibragre Eco Park, a popular picnic spot and tourist destination 13 kilometers from Tura. The cleaning drive was organized as a follow up of the directive given by the Ministry of Tourism on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Awareness programme

The Nongkhlaw Sports & Cultural Club in collaboration with the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Nongstion organized an awareness programme on “Anti Substance Abuse” at Dorbar Hall, Nongkhlaw village recently. The programme deliberated upon various social issues.
