10 coal trucks seized

SHILLONG: Amidst the NGT ban of extraction of coal, East Khasi Hills police have seized ten coal-laden trucks in last two days on Shillong Bypass. Informing this here on Tuesday, East Khasi Hills district police chief M Kharkrang said that the trucks were seized for transporting coal illegally. On Tuesday morning, police seized three coal laden trucks (AS-01Y-5158 driven by Aigar Ali (26), AS-01-DD-3125 driven by Ringa Halam (25) and )ML-04-8811) at Mawkhanu Toll Gate, Shillong By-pass. However, the driver of ML-04-8811 is absconding.
