Donation
The Khasi Jaintia Christian Fellowship, New Delhi, donated an amount of Rs.2 lakh to Reach Shillong Ministries in an informal gathering at the office of the Ministry. The amount was raised through a concert ‘Torch’ organised by KJCF in September.
Walkathon
Help Age India will organize a walkathon involving school students and senior citizens from all walks of life on October 30 on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons.
Natl seminar
Department of Computer Science & Applications, Shillong College, in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Shillong is organising a National Seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Advanced Networking and Cloud Computing’ on October 31 and November 1, at Shillong College.
Religious service
The religious services for blessing of graveyards at Mawprem Catholic Cemetery will be held on Nov 2 to begin with the holy mass at 1.30 pm. Faithful would be allowed to place two crowns and one cross made of natural flowers on each graveyard. Plastic wreaths are banned to avoid destruction to environment. Those graveyards which were not being maintained will be given away for burial for others.

A four-day training programme on Gender Issues in Education for the Principals of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of NER was inaugurated on Oct 29 by Dept of Gender Studies, NCERT, New Delhi and NERIE, Shillong, at ICSSR-NERC, NEHU Campus, Shillong.
