Workshop
The Directorate of Arts and Culture, Govt. of Meghalaya in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata, is organizing a national level workshop on Digital Library Awareness as a programme under the project “Digital Library for North Eastern States”. The workshop will be held from November 4-5 at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.
Street play
The Department of Mass Media, St. Anthony’s College organized street play on November 1 at various locations like Don Bosco Square and Police Bazar. The play which was aimed at educating the public through the theme ‘Role of Women in Our Society Today’ also marked the advent of “Kalika: Through the Looking Glass”, a Grand Theatre Experience, which is to be organized by the Mass Media students on November 8.
Ekta Diwas
The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nongstoin celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in collaboration with NSS, JNV, Nongstoin Unit on Friday. The programme started with the ‘Run for Unity’ followed by a seminar on ‘Contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to the Unity and Integrity of India’.
Cleaning drive
The NSS Unit of Shillong College, conducted a cleaning drive at Bomfyle Road on November 1 as part of the Clean India Campaign. Programme Officers and Volunteers of the College took part in this drive and cleaned a patch of unused land which was being used as a dumping ground.
GSU, Ri-Bhoi regional unit, Byrnihat organized a cleaning drive at 15th Mile, Byrnihat on November 1. People including school students, village elders, women’s groups and youths from Rangsakona, Hograpara villages of both Meghalaya and Assam participated in the cleaning drive.
