Construction labourer who killed his colleague arrested
Thane:The police arrested a construction labourer for allegedly killing one of his colleagues brutually, the police said here on Friday. Senior police inspector Vilas Suryvanshi, of the Kasarwadavali police station told PTI today that the Hanumant Narsingh Mitkar (40) had attacked Rajesh B Sav (35) who allegedly trespassed into a house at about 2.30 am. on Thursday. The accused allegedly fled the scene but the police traced him and arrested him, he said. The accused saw the victim entering the house of the former’s sister-in-law who also lived in the same locality in the construction site and fatally attacked him, he said. Another worker Dileep Hadse who was also present at the time of the attack was at large, the police official said, adding that a hunt is on to trace him. An offence has been registered under Section 302 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code and further investigations into the case are on, the police official said. (PTI)
Two including NMMC clerk, arrested for graft
Thane:Two people, including a clerk with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation were arrested by the Navi Mumbai unit of the ACB – Thane Range on Thursday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. Talking to UNI, Addl. SP ACB Thane, Shrinivas Ghadge said that the duo — identified as Vijay B Patil and the other person Faizal Jahabux Haque — made the demand for the bribe from a complainant who owned 10 dumpers for his business. According to the complaint, the clerk made the demand after threatening action on the complainant’s dumpers by the NMMC flying squad. The aggrieved complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB-NM Unit, which laid a trap and nabbed the duo while accepting the bribe money near the Kopri bridge in Vashion Thursday, the ACB said. . Offences against the duo have been registered under sections 7, 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, with the local police stations, Ghatge said. (UNI)
Forest Dept, Police officials chased away by flood victims
Pilibhit:A team of forest department and police were allegedly beaten and chased away by flood victims seeking rehabilitation here in Bundi Bhund village, police said on Friday. According to the police, the forest department team led by their divisional forest officer yesterday had gone to the village to clear the land which was given to the flood victims for the rehabilitation purpose two months ago. . The people allegedly chased the officials with lathis when they entered the area and beat them. The flood victims have alleged that they took the extreme step only when the police and forest staff were truing to set fire to their tents. The officials had to flee the spot and later police made attempts to pacify the agitators. The forest staff is contemplating of lodging an FIR against the villagers, police said. (PTI)
AIIMS doctors help formulate sterilisation norms: Nadda
New Delhi:Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said on Friday that the four AIIMS doctors, who were sent to a mass sterilisation camp in Chhattisgarh after 13 women died, have guided the doctors and helped set proper norms.The four doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were sent Tuesday evening on the recommendation of the ministry after 13 women died and over 70 women were hospitalised following botched tubectomy procedures at the camp.”…the AIIMS doctors who visited the Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh, have guided the doctors and help them set up proper norms and the doctors have been asked to adhere too it,” said Nadda. Speaking on the sidelines of a blood donation camp organised by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with AIIMS, Nadda added that the judicial inquiry set up by the Chhattisgarh government has been assured of all help from the central government..(IANS)
