Itanagar: For timely completion of infrastructure projects in North-East it was decided to set up State Coordination Committee for Infrastructure Project (SCCIP) at the state level under the concerned chief secretaries.

At the national level a Central Steering Committee for Infrastructure Project (CSCIP) under the Secretary (Border Management), Ministry of Home Affairs is being envisaged for timely completion of various infrastructure projects.

This was decided in a meeting at New Delhi yesterday in order to facilitate the smooth execution of infrastructure development projects in the border areas which was chaired by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, an official communique said here today.

The state committee would provide resolution and remove bottlenecks locally failing which it will refer the matter to CSCIP. The central committee would ensure time bound clearance of projects and references received from state coordination committee, the communique said.

The committees would be represented by senior officers of concerned Central ministries and departments and the concerned state government.

The state committee would meet once every month and the central committee would meet every quarter, it said.

In the meeting, it was highlighted that the execution of various infrastructure projects relating to roads, railways, power and telecom by the central ministries and state governments are hampering the work of the other agencies due to lack of coordination.

Rijiju expressed his dissatisfaction on the status of execution of various projects. He said that existing scenario with respect to uncoordinated execution of the projects, led to unnecessary delays and inconvenience to the public, the communique informed.

During the meeting the department of telecom also informed that a MoU has been signed between Power Grid Corporation and DoT, wherein it has been agreed that the HT Transmission line network of the Power Grid would be utilized for carrying OFC cables for telecommunication connectivity. (PTI)
