SHILLONG: The State government has deputed several senior police officials to Garo Hills to review and take stock of the situation in view of Tuesday’s IED blast which claimed two police personnel.

This was informed by Home Minister Roshan Warjri here on Wednesday.

Head constables Aldrin Lygdoh and Akilson Marak were killed and another three were injured when an IED planted by the militants went off near a road close to Rewak while they were travelling towards Baghmara from Siju area in the district.

Warjri termed the killing of two police personnel as ‘cold blooded, gruesome and inhumane”.

In a statement, Warjri said that the barbaric activities being carried out by these militant groups must be condemned in the strongest terms.

The Home Minister also extended her condolences to the bereaved families.
