Inauguration
The Seng Khasi College recently inaugurated the Khasi Traditional Music and Dance Institute at Lympung Weiking. Director of Arts and Culture MW Nongbri graced the occasion as the chief guest. The objective of inaugurating the institute is to educate people on various dances and music of the Khasis.
Golden jubilee celebrations
The concluding function of the golden jubilee celebrations of Kamala Nehru Secondary School Shillong was held on November 5. Social Welfare minister Deborah Marak and Nongthymmai MLA Jemino Mawthoh attended the event.
Condolence
Raij Niamtre, Shillong condoled the sudden demise of Pa Dalloi KC Rymbai on November 19. Rymbai was the religious and administrative head of Jowai elaka. In a condolence meeting, the members recalled the contributions of KC Rymbai towards the preservation of Jaintia heritage and culture.
Intl White Ribbon Day
Seng Kynthei Unitarian Union North East India will organize a panel discussion on “Elimination of Violence Against Women” in observance of International White Ribbon Day on November 25 at Youth Hostel at 2 pm.
Blood donation
The University of Technology and Management will organize a blood donation camp in collaboration with Pasteur Institute at UTM, Laitumkhrah at 9 am on November 22.
Office bearers
The Hindu Welfare Society, Nongpoh in its general meeting held at Maa Kali Mandir on Sunday elected new Puja Committee office bearers. Babul Roy was elected president, Madhav Singh the general secretary and Ajit Baishnav was named the treasurer.
NYC training
The seven-day refresher training of National Youth Corps volunteers organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Meghalaya Zone concluded at the Youth Hostel conference hall in Shillong on Wednesday. Over 100 NYC volunteers representing East Khasi Hills District, Jowai, Ri Bhoi and Garo Hills attended the seven-day training which dwelt into various topics like fund mobilization, coordination with developmental agencies, formation of youth clubs etc.
