Rewak victims shifted to Guwahati

TURA/Nongstoin: Two among three police personnel who survived the IED blast at Rewak, near Siju, with splinter injuries on Tuesday afternoon have been shifted to Guwahati for surgery to remove the numerous pellets lodged in their body.

They are the driver-fireman (DFM) Medison Sangma, who was behind the wheel of the mini truck which bore the brunt of the blast along and 3rd MLP Battalion constable Brething K Sangma.

“Doctors at Tura informed that they can treat constable Betherson M Sangma here itself but since the injuries of Medison and Brething are more complicated they have been shifted to Guwahati,” informed police. Both are learnt to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the body of slain head constables Aldrin Lyngdoh was laid to rest at Kynshi cemetery amidst the presence senior police officials, friends and relatives on Thursday.

Lyngdoh was among the two police personnel who were killed in the IED blast at Rewak on Tuesday.

YC Modi, Additional Director General of Police (LO), Lakador Syiem, Commandant 3rdBattalion Khliehtyrshi, Sylvester Nongtnger, SP, West Khasi Hills paid floral tributes to the departed soul.

The Church service, which was conducted by the Kynshi Presbyterian denomination, was held at his residence at Kynshi Bangla under West Khasi Hills District.

Lyngdoh, who joined the police force on1995, left behind his parents, seven brothers and two sisters, wife and a daughter.
