On November 28 at around 5 am, unknown miscreants stole one marble idol of Lord Hanuman from Mahadev Khola, Upper Shillong.
Chit fund cases
One Mahadev Upadhya and others lodged a complaint at Laban PS that in the year 2013 they invested money through one agent of Maple Infracon, a Kolkata based Chit Fund, Natasha S. Chyne, and the investment matured in August 2014 but the company failed to pay the maturity amount. In this connection, Police arrested Chyne and one Devjeet Das.
One Kalpana Mizar and others lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that three different companies M/s Phoenix Properties Ltd. with Suraj Subha as Branch Manager, M/s Sarathi Realty & Agri-Tech Ltd. and M/s Prayas Project India Ltd. with Gautam Dey and Subrato Das as senior agents cheated the investors’ money amounting to Rs.15 lakh.
Intimidation
One Raj Kumar Rai lodged a complaint at Madanrting PS that he took a plot of land on lease for twenty-five years at Jyntah Happy Valley, Shillong from one Warder Kharkongor and set up a dairy farm since the last two years. On March 20 this year at around 10 am, the landlord along with others (4/5) armed with pistol and iron rod abused him, pointed gun at him, snatched Rs.5,000, and also threatened him with dire consequences, if he failed to vacate the land.
Assault
On November 27 at about 2.30 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted one Deepak Das (24) at Bivar Road, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital Shillong.
Arrest
On November 27, Police arrested three persons Banteilang Lapang, Adilbert Syiemlieh and Chotu Chettri while they were attempting to pick pockets.
Attempted theft
John Francis Lating lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on November 27 at around 2.30 am, one Rohit Singh (21) was caught red handed while attempting to burgle his shop at Laitumkhrah Boyce Road, Shillong. Police arrested the accused.
ATM vandalised
On November 27 night, unknown miscreants vandalized an SBI ATM Kiosk at Qualapatty, Shillong. In this connection, police arrested one 16-year-old male.
Five-year-old knocked down
On November 27 at around 5.30 pm, one Tata Sumo vehicle (ML-05G-9366) driven by Lakhon Hing (23) knocked down one minor boy, Teibor Kharpran (5) at Sohryngkham (EKH). Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
Torture
A woman identified as Swarna Rishi of Rishipara Tura (WGH) lodged a complaint at Tura PS that her husband Mona Rishi tortured her physically and mentally since their marriage in 2010. On November 26 at around 8 pm, her husband set fire on her and as a result, she sustained burn injuries.
One killed in accident
On November 25 at about 7.30 pm, one truck (ML-08-1082) driven by Kasidur Rahman capsized at Monjigre village (WGH). As a result, two occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Phulbari and later referred to Goalpara Hospital, Assam, where one of the injured victim Ukil Islam succumbed to his injuries.
School furniture damaged
Ialambha Pasi, Head Teacher of Govt. LP School, Nangbah, Dukhu village (WJH) lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on the night of November 25, unknown miscreants damaged the benches and other furniture of the school.
