EKH beat All Jaintia narrowly

SHILLONG: In a thrilling nail biting finish All Jaintia ran out of overs with wickets in hand to loose the match against East Khasi by a narrow margin of 3 runs. Put to bat by All Jaintia on winning the toss East Khasi amassed a formidable total of 164 runs all out in 30 overs, with Donboklang Lyngdoh scoring 38 runs (46 balls) and Bankitlang Wanniang making a quick 25 runs(17 balls). Ram Toi and Joystarwell Lyngkhoi claimed 2 wickets each for All Jaintia. In reply, All Jaintia started well and was on course to overtake the total but at the end fell 4 runs short of victory scoring 161 runs for loss of 8 wickets in allotted 30 overs. Kyrshan Lyngdoh scored 39 runs(46 balls) and Joystarwell Lyngkhoi 19 runs(13 balls). Kyntonbok Sanglyne claimed 3 wickets for East Khasi. In Mondays match Ri-Bhoi shall meet West Khasi Hills.
BSNL Players shines at one day prize money TT tournamnet 2014

SHILLONG: One day veteran Table Tennis tournament under the aegis of Meghalaya TT Association was held at UTS Syiem Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. All together about 28 players of age group of 45 and above participated in the singles & doubles category. Double partners were selected through draw of lots. Five players from BSNL, three from NEEPCO, three players from Survey of India, two plyers from AGs office also participated among others. Here are the results Veteran Men Singles Champion – Santanu Ghosh (BSNL). Runner Up – Harendra Singha (NEEPCO). Veteran Doubles Champion – Ratan Biswakarma (BSNL) & Utpal Paul (Survey of India). Runner Up- Santanu Ghosh & Surjya Pyngrope (Both BSNL). Chief Referee of the tournament Shri L L Nonglait also the State Coach gave away the prizes.
MP boys clinched the titles of sub-Junior National Basketball C’ship
Nashik: After the Kerala girls clinched the gold medal, it was the boys’ turn to battle for gold at the 2014 Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship at the Meenatai Thakare Indoor Stadium here on Saturday. Neighbouring states, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, both hotbeds of young basketball talent, squared off in the final match of the tournament. Madhya Pradesh ended up with a perfect record at this year’s sub-junior nationals by defeating Chhattisgarh with a 94-82 margin. The first half was an up-and-down affair as Chhattisgarh got off to a hot start leading 29-16 at the end of the first quarter. (PTI)
