SHILLONG: Local legislator and MDC, Sanbor Shullai, on Saturday laid the foundation stone for widening, improvement including parking -cum turning facilities of road from existing PWD main road up to all religious communities’ cemetery and cremation ground at Lawsohtun, Block VI, in the city.
The scheme was initiated by various church committees and Dorbar Shnong of Lawsohtun and after Shullai was approached, he got a sanction from PWD department for an amount of Rs.47,37,800.
Speaking on the occasion, Shullai expressed his happiness over fulfilling the long pending demand of the people especially of greater Laban area.
He said the road will be a blessing to those who have to visit the cremation ground during funeral. He thanked the Dorbar Shnong for providing the land free of cost.
H. Basaiawmoit, Executive Engineer PWD (Road) said that the work will start in December and will be completed very soon.
Various church leaders and prominent persons including Rangbah Shnong and Rangbah Dong of Lawsohtun were present at the meeting which was presided over by Tonwell Rynjah, Rangbah Shnong of Lawsohtun.
