Agartala: CPI-M Tripura state committee has warned Science, Techno-logy and Environment minister Bijita Nath on Thursday not to glorify astrology in the ambit of science.
Mrs Nath had given a message in annual conference of astrologers association in Agartala last week described ‘astrology’ as ‘science’ and mentioned that development of astro-logical science will help in overall development. “The astrology is helping the peace building process of the society as well as development of scientific temperament.
I hope the conference will be successful to achieve it’s endeavour,” Mrs Nath’s message contained. Besides, political parties and scientific communities, a section of CPI-M leaders criticised the attempt of minister Nath and they demanded clarification from the government as well as party whether Marxists endorsed it or not.
However, on Thursday in a statement CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar made it clear that party did not endorse the depiction and statement of Bijita Nath. “We have corrected her conception about astrology and she is cautioned to be careful in such occasion in future because Marxism never believes in any such science. Except natural and pure science, we can’t state anything science.(UNI)
