Dimchrang Festival from December 9-11

TURA: As part of the winter festival being organized in all the five districts of Garo Hills South West Garo Hills District will also be organizing the ‘Dimchrang Festival 2014’ at Ampati on the 9th, 10th and 11th December.

The festival will be Flagged Off with a Carnival for Peace followed by the Inauguration of the festival by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma wherein an exhibition of local Agricultural, Horticultural, Fisheries, and Livestock will be shopcased besides an array of handicraft and handloom products throughout the entire Festival.

A variety of ethnic food of different communities will also be available for food lovers to palate.

Display of indigenous musical instruments, games and sports and painting competition will be conducted for the participants in the festival followed by a musical night by local artistes.

The second day will witness the organization of a Talent Show, Fancy Dress Competition and Ethnic Wear Competition as well as the exotic Fire Dance Display by artists who came all the way from Goa.

The Closing Ceremony will be followed by the Prize Distribution of the various competitions conducted throughout the Festival and finally conclude with a Rock Concert by ‘Restless Desire’ a well known and upcoming rock band from Tura.
