NONGSTOIN: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Saturday inaugurated the Girls’ Hostel of Nongstoin College and also the Music Institute here in a befitting function as the chief guest in the presence of the local MLA Hopingstone Lyngdoh who was also the guest of honour.
The Girls Hostel was funded by UGC, while the Music Institute has been funded by State Art & Culture for traditional music and dances.
The Chief Minister also released a book titled ‘Impact of Globalization on Traditional Political Institutions North East India’ written by R.K. Satapathy and the College magazine on the occasion.
In his inauguration speech, Dr. Sangma said that it is the desire of the government that every district in the state must have the kind of institution for primary, elementary, secondary, higher secondary and higher education and in this regard, the government would work with NEHU, as has been done for Garo Hills and Jaintia Hills, for Nongstoin to have NEHU Campus for almost all the departments which have degree courses.
