SHILLONG: A case of impersonation has been reported in the city where a woman allegedly managed to get herself admitted into a General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) course by using the documents of her neighbour.

The woman identified as Bidhana R Marak allegedly used the documents of one Senge D Sangma of Tura to get admission on merit list into the GNM training course at Ganesh Das Hospital, Shillong. Incidentally, she has successfully completed her training.

The victim, Senge D Sangma, claims that she had lost her documents in 2013 but was shocked to find that her name was mentioned in the merit list after which she sent her husband to Shillong to find out who has applied for the course using her ‘lost’ documents.

A case in this regard was lodged at Laitumkhrah PS following which Bidhana R Marak was arrested. She was later let out on bail.

Marak is reportedly one of the victims tortured by Tura-based women groups in May this year which had evoked severe criticism in the State.
