Assam busts ‘illegal detention center’ of NSCN-IM in Nagaland

Kohima: Basing on intelligent inputs, troops of 18 Assam Rifles busted an ‘illegal detention center’ on Sunday last, allegedly run by NSCN (IM) in Jalukie under Peren district and rescued five civilians.
According to a release issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles claimed that during the search, five abducted individuals were found in the custody of NSCN (IM) cadres. Assam Rifles alleged that the detainees were confined in inhuman and despicable conditions in gross violation of Human Rights and United Nations Charter.
During the search of detention centre, 11 NSCN (IM) cadres, who were present and running the detention centre, were taken into custody. It added that two of the apprehended cadres of NSCN (IM) were arrested earlier also on Nov- 24 from Nsung under Peren district for illegal tax collection and extortion.
All the apprehended cadres have been handed over to Jalukie Police Station, Peren and a case has been registered. The detainees have also been handed over to the police for releasing them to their relatives. (UNI)
