South Africa’s Rolene Strauss bagged the Miss World 2014 title here Sunday. The 22-year-old was crowned by Miss World 2013 Megan Young, who also co-hosted the pageant with Tim Vincent. Rolene, a medical student, said that her family made her who she is today. She praised her father’s influence and for interesting her in medicine, her mother for teaching her the power of the mind and her brother, for compassion and patience.
With a holistic approach to living, she hopes to create a business along these lines focusing on women’s health, alongside her plan of studying for an MBA and becoming a doctor.
The second spot went to Miss Hungary Edina Kulcsar and the third to Miss US Elizabeth Safrit.
India’s Koyal Rana could make it only to top 10. Delhi girl Koyal, 21, had managed to reach the top 10 bracket.She also won subt-itles like best designer award and shared the “Beauty With A Purpose” title with Kenya, Guyana.
Contest-ants from 121 countries participated in the international pageant, which also honoured India’s Aishwarya Rai, who was crowned Miss World 1994.
At the beginning of the pageant, Koyal had also performed to some of the signature steps of the “Dola re dola” song, which featured Aishwarya and Madhuri Dixit.(IANS)
