DGP reviews passing-out parade in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Over 132 recruit police constables of the 6th Battalion UB/RCs, Shillong took oath on Friday during the passing out parade held at the 6th Battalion Training Centre, Umran Diary in Ri Bhoi District.

     The oath was administered by Meghalaya Director General of Police, PJP Hanaman in the presence of top police officials of the state in the presence of family members of the young police personnel.

   During the one year training, the recruit constables of the battalion were provided with the basic training on weapons, crowd management, traffic and disaster management besides exposing them to the law and order duties.

     Addressing the POP, Hanaman expressed his appreciation for being associated on the memorable day for the recruit constables who had done well in their training and also congratulated all the young constables who had passed out the police training.

     He also said that, policing is not an easy task for a normal person but the young personnel need more dedication, determination, accountability and sacrifices to achieve much success in their future.

While advising the personnel, Hanaman said, “You should be eligible for higher duties and should be able to maintain a high standard for a long time considering the position they hold in the society. Policemen are social workers in uniform imparted with the duty to fulfilled the expectations of the people.’’

      The DGP also informed them that the plan of the Prime Minister Narendra )Modi for SMART policing will definitely boost the force which will subject the police to various factors—S for strict, sensitive, M for modern, mobile, A for alert, accountable, R for reliable, responsive and T for techno savvy and trained.

     During the pass out parade, different awards were awarded to the best recruit constables which includes Best in drill Constable Willy Marak, best in weapon handling Hiamdor Lyngdoh, Best in firing Tengsil S Sangma, best in law Lambanskhem Thongni, best in professional related subject Md. Rizwan.

Four award winners in exemplary conduct not in order of merit includes Profullya Hajong, Saswin Sangma, Jenush R. Marak, Anoy Kr. Rabha and the all round best award winner was awarded to Kmenlang Thabah.
