SHILLONG: A city court has restrained Shree Marwari Panchayat, Shillong, from conducting the election of the executive committee members of the panchayat scheduled on January 4, 2015.

The court restrained the panchayat from conducting election until the end of hearing on the application.

The Court asked the secretary of the panchayat to show cause on February 16 next year as to why the interim injunction granted by the court should not be made absolute, pending disposal of the suit.

The suit was filed by petitioner Pawan Sharma.
