Four injured in group clash over harassing women

Muzaffarnagar:Four persons were injured when a clash broke out between two groups over harassing women in a weekly market at Gangeru village under Kandhla police station in Shamli district, police said on Wednesday. The feud broke out yesterday when some people of a particular community started harassing women, who were shopping at the weekly market. Reportedly, the accused were outsiders. An argument ensued when some people from the village opposed them. This later turned into a violent clash between the two groups in which four persons were injured in stone pelting. Security has been tightened in the village and extra police have been deployed in the area after the incident. Police has registered a case against six persons identified as Maden, Sunder, Amit, Anil, Sandeep and Maman under various sections of the IPC and efforts are on to nab all the six absconding accused. According to the police, the accused had also opened fire in the air during the clash. (PTI)

Youth abducts and rapes 16 year-old girl; arrested

Baghpat:A 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth in Ramala area here, police said on Wednesday. The girl was abducted by accused Arif on Tuesday and taken to a house where he raped her, they said. Police said the 25-year-old accused abducted the girl while she had gone to a nearby grocery shop, they said. The accused released the girl by night. A case was lodged against Arif by the victim’s family after the teen narrated the incident to them, they said. He was arrested today, police said adding that the minor has been sent for medical examination. The investigation is further on in the matter, they added. (PTI)

Minor kidnapped in Faridabad

Faridabad: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by three youths in the district here, police said on Wednesday. According to a complaint filed by the girl’s uncle Israel, the trio kidnapped the girl on Tuesday at sector 25 Ballabhgarh here when she came to visit her elder sister, they said. The accused, identified as Samsuddin, Devendra and Aasma, are absconding, police said, adding a case has been registered against them. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two youths on Tuesday. In her complaint, the victim, resident of Palwal area here, said that the two youths – Ankit Tyagi and Tarun Tyagi – took her to a secluded place and raped her. The duo threatened the woman with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone, police said. A case under section 376 (Punishment for rape) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. (PTI)

4 directors arrested for misappropriation

Kolhapur:Four directors of a Food-grain Industrial Institution in Kagal Five-Star Industrial Estate of this district have been arrested for misappropriation of about Rs 60 lakh. According to Gokul-shirgaon police, four directors of Gokul Food-grain Industrial Institution, in Kagal Five-Start Industrial Estate, misappropriated institutions amount of Rs 29.40 lakh, which was sanctioned by Fruit Procession Department of the central government, without any registration in a day-book.  They also put Rs 2.59 lakh amount at debit side with false registration for purchasing wheat and they showed bogus purchase of wheat from District Industry Center of Rs 23 lakh. Those who were arrested were Sambhaji Rajaram Shinde (52), Shashikant Yashwant Patil (52), Shivaji Vitthal Naik (35), all resident at Kaneri village of Karvir tehsil and Javed Abdul Kadar Bagwan of Kaneriwadi, also in Karvir tehsil of this district.(UNI)

Mobile phones and SIM cards seized from Khagaria jail

Khagaria:A dozen mobile phones and nine SIM cards were seized on Wednesday from different wards of a divisional jail in Bihar’s Khagaria district. Acting on the directive of District Magistrate Raushan Kumar, police raided the prison and seized a dozen mobile phones and nine SIM cards from various wards, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bimalesh Chandra Jha said. One mobile phone was seized from a ward housing a Maoist, identified as Lambua, he said. The seized mobile phones and SIM cards have been deposited at Chitragupt Nagar police station, he said. An FIR has been lodged against the inmates from whose wards these mobile phones and SIM cards have been seized, Jha said. He said action will be taken against jail officials and guards for allowing the inmates to use prohibited items. (PTI)

Relatives kidnap child of kin in property dispute

Patna:A 13-year old boy was kidnapped by his aunt and her kin following a property dispute in Mahavir Colony under Bihta police station in Patna district on Wednesday.  Police said that motorcycle-borne armed persons kidnapped 13-year old Prince, while he was taking a walk near his home in Mahavir Colony. Police attributed the kidnapping to property dispute in the family. Sources claimed that kidnappers have demanded documents pertaining to land and Rs 50 lakh cash as ransom in a threat delivered over telephone to the victim’s family. The police have lodged an FIR based on the statement of the boy’s father. The FIR named Nishu Kumari, own sister of the complainant and a resident of Gopalchak village under Janipur police station, wife of his younger brother Tunnu Devi and brother-in-law of the younger brother Pintu Kumar as the accused. Youth injured in IED blast

Lakhisarai (Bihar):A 26-year-old youth was on Wednesday injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in the naxal-infested Lakhisarai district, around 145 km south west of the state capital.The injured person has been identified as Chandan Kumar of Chanan police station area in the district, police said. Chanan Station House Officer (SHO) Pankaj Kumar Jha said, “The IED device was kept in a stainless steel can and kept on a newly built small bridge on an under-construction road. The injured youth was going to toilet in the open this morning. (PTI)
