Rachel Adedeji joins ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’

X Factor’ star Rachel Adedeji will play Mary Magdalene in the new touring production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. She will be joined by fellow ‘X Factor’ star Rhydian Roberts, who will play Pontius Pilate in Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock musical, reported Digital Spy.
Adedeji – who appeared on the ITV series in 2009 – joins ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ from the touring production of Michael Jackson musical Thriller Live. Glenn Carter will lead the cast as Jesus, after previously playing the role in the West End, on Broadway and on screen.
Tim Rogers will star as Judas, while David Burilin and Cavin Cornwall also feature in the cast. Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright are on board to direct. The have previously worked together on ‘Blood Brothers’ and ‘Evita’, which recently had a limited run at the Dominion Theatre in London
. The new UK tour of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ will kick off on January 21 at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, before visiting cities including Cardiff, Sheffield and Liverpool. Further casting and tour date announcements will be made in due course. (PTI)
