Bhubaneswar:Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik today said that the success of his party in Odisha is a cause of concern for national parties like the Congress and BJP.
“The success of the regional party is a cause of concern for national parties. They (national parties like Congress and BJP) are never with the people of Odisha and would never fight for the interest of the state,” Patnaik said addressing a function here marking 17th Foundation Day of the ruling BJD.
Alleging attempts to defame BJD through various means, he said “They (national parties) indulge in such activities after facing repeated defeats in elections.” Patnaik expressed confidence that the opposition plans would not succeed as BJD is based on the trust and confidence of more than four crore people of Odisha.
Reiterating his allegation of “central negligence”, the chief minister for the first time targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government and claimed there is discrimination in central allocations to states. “Central aid is the right of the state under the federal structure,” the CM said.
Claiming that BJD was committed to protect interest of the state, Patnaik said his party would continue its fight against the alleged central negligence. “Our motto is service, struggle, good governance and dignity,” he said.
Patnaik thanked people for having trust on him and his party which retained power in the state since 2000. “We have earned the trust of the people during the last 17 years as BJD worked for the betterment of the state. BJD during the period have created history and took Odisha to a new height,” he said.(PTI)
