Bangladeshi dacoits killed

TURA: Member of a Bangladeshi dacoit gang were reportedly killed during an encounter by a joint team of SWAT and the BSF at Netri Village, five kilometres from Baghmara in South Garo Hills District.

According to sources, the gang was involved in the kidnapping of a former teacher from Sibbari in the same district and had come to collect the ransom money when the encounter took place. The gun battle on Monday left 3 dacoits dead and 1 injured. While one of the dacoits was killed on the spot, two others are reported to have succumbed to their injuries after crossing over to Bangladesh. A grenade and a mobile phone were later recovered from the encounter site
