City to host NEC’s 63rd plenary meet

SHILLONG: The 63rd plenary meet of North Eastern Council (NEC) will be held here on Friday.

Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh, who is the ex-officio chairman of NEC, will chair the meeting which will be attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of Northeastern states including Sikkim, official sources said on Tuesday.

“Discussions will held on the various developmental activities taken up in the North East by different Ministries and Government organisations including the Ministries of Railways, Road Transport and Highways, Civil Aviation, Shipping (Waterways), Power, Communication and Information Technology, DoNER and NEC,” a statement said. Moreover, the annual plan and the gross budgetary support of the NEC will also be discussed during the meeting, the statement added.
