TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Dadenggre Regional Unit has demanded the upgradation of Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division into a full-fledged district.

In a statement issued here on Monday the Union appealed to all political parties, MLAs from Dadenggre, Selsella, Rajabala, Phulbari, Tikrikilla and Raksamgre as well as members of the general public to stand united for the cause of upgrading Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division into a full-fledged district.

“We kept mum earlier while four new districts were being created in the state as we did not want the issue to become a mere election agenda for some selfish politicians ahead of the Assembly Elections.

“We are aware of the Government’s decision to create two more new districts in the state. We hope Dr Sangma fulfils what he has promised and will not overlook Dadenggre this time,” the Dadenggre Regional Unit President of the GSU, Rupa M Marak said.
