Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor says his next film after son Arjun Kapoor-starrer ‘Tevar’ will be with his actress wife Sridevi. Sridevi, who made her Bollywood comeback in 2012 with ‘English Vinglish’, has collaborated with her husband on films like ‘Mr India’, ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ and ‘Judaai’.
Boney, 59, said that after the release of ‘Tevar’, which hits theatres this Friday, he will focus on Sridevi’s film. “My immediate next film is with my wife. She will star in the movie. It will be a women-oriented subject but very different from ‘English Vinglish’.
It will be of another genre,” Boney told PTI.
Besides that the producer said he will begin work on ‘No Entry Mein Entry’, which is a sequel to 2005 comedy ‘No Entry’, this year. “Apart from ‘No Entry Mein Entry’, I have also planned a film with Arjun.
Then there is the sequel of ‘Mr India’. These are the films that are in my mind. If something else comes up and I find it interesting enough, I may work on those as well,” he said. Boney has collaborated mostly with his family members be it his brothers Anil and Sanjay or his wife Sridevi. ‘Tevar’ is the first film in which he has worked with his son. The producer said Arjun came onboard the film because he suited the role. “Arjun suited the character and the script. The film needed somebody like him. Besides he was keen to do this film. I had the rights of the film. In fact, I had rights of three other subjects but he chose this one,” he said.
Boney said neither he has ever faced any problems while working with his family members nor have they ever complained about him because he feels as a producer he has never let them compromise on their creative freedom. “They follow their own instincts. My brief to them is only through the director. Finally it is his call. Of course, on the spot there are some suggestions but it is just to add my own bit into it.
I never cross the boundary of exercising my rights either as a family member or as a producer of the film. “They are individuals whether it is my wife, my brother and now my son. They are responsible, they are talented and they are aware of what is right for them,” Boney said. When asked if ever during the shooting of ‘Tevar’, the father took over the producer in him, Boney said, “Well only during the action scenes. I hoped that it would go on well. Thats about it.
“I was there more as a guardian of the project because this is the director Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s first film, my brother Sanjay’s first production. I was more like the head of the family, rather than the big boss producer.
” Boney said that casting Sonakshi Sinha as the female lead in the movie was Arjun’s idea as he felt she suited the role. “Initially, Arjun suggested Sonakshi. He told me that Sonakshi suits the role and also he wanted to work with her. He was definitely the first person to push this thought in my mind. And I also felt that she would be appropriate,” Boney said. (PTI)
