SHILLONG: The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal to revise the excise slab on Indian Manufactured Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
“We have revised the excise slab to mobilize additional revenue for the State. With this revision, the State is expected to earn additional revenue of Rs 21.84 crore,” Chief Minister Mukul Sangma told newsmen after the Cabinet meeting.
While divulging the details about the rate of the different brands of IMFL after the revised slab, the Chief Minister said that the cost price of the general brand has been increased from Rs 551 to 663 per case, the cost price of deluxe brand has been increased from Rs 556 to Rs 675 per case and the cost price of premium brand has been increased from Rs 900 to Rs 1138 per case.
The Chief Minister also informed that the cost price of super premium brand has been increased from Rs 1282 to Rs 1539 per case.
Interestingly, Sangma informed that the sale of liquor in the State has gone down following the NGT ban on coal mining in the State.
