Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang on Monday said that the present crisis in the Naga Peoples Front (NPF), with only claims will not prove anything, but the right place to show the trial of strength of majority support to the leader would be in the floor of the Assembly.
Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat this afternoon, Zeliang said due to lots of false claims by the dissident groups, a lot of confusion has been created in the media regarding the recent political developments.
He said that he has submitted a letter to the Governor of Nagaland to summon a special Session of the Nagaland Assembly to prove the strength of support to the ruling and the dissident parties.
He blamed the two Nagaland MPs, Neiphiu Rio and Khekiho Zhimomi, for taking the initiative of trying to change the leadership of Nagaland Ministry for reasons better known to them, since he took over the reign of state in August last year.
The Chief Minister said he was informed by some of the legislators that the MPs have met them personally and were giving baits of good portfolios in the new ministry.
In the last few days, without informing or discussing with the NPF party President and other functionaries, even without the knowledge of Assembly Speaker, a group of NPF legislators led by the MPs declared Kaito Aye as their new Chief Ministerial candidate and also appointed their Chief Whip, which is very much against the rule of the party constitution and termed that the entire process is illegal and unlawful.
Kaito and his team were kept in Rio Villa in Sovima at Dimapur under wrongful confinement and even said that their mobile telephones were replaced with new ones.
Zeliang said that Rio Villa was guarded by his security personnel, along with some suspected underground cadres of a particular faction and visitors were restricted.
He said such kind of force confinement has led to the rise in number of members to 22, and thereby laying claims to form alternative Government under Kaito’s leadership. (UNI)
